Sprouted Green lentil slow cooker soup

I wanted to make something with sprouted lentils this time so I soaked my green moong (full) daal overnight. In the morning I moved daal to the sprouter for 2 days. Daals are sprouted perfectly in 2 days (around 36 hours).

In the slow cooker I added following stuff but you can decide your own choice of vegitables you like

1) In the bottom of the pan I sprayed some olive oil
2) Pour one can of vegitable broth (you can use water instead)
3) Add 2 cups of sprouted green lentils
4) 2-3 strips of Salary
5) 1/2 Big red onion
6) 1 big tomato
7) 4 garlic cloves grated
8) 1 inch ginger grated
9) oregano around 2-3 tea spoon
10) black peper around 1 tea spoon
11) Jeera powder
12) 1 big carrot grated

On the low I am going to put it overnight and then while serving put some 1 cm tofu cubes and some green onion chopped.

video to make the spice mix....

Since it is not cooking in the pressure cooker it will take around 40-45 min in the pan (covered).

Slow cooked Italian Soup

Friday evenings my tummy needs little different food. Today I thought of having a italian soup with bread rolls.

Here is what I did for my soup.

In the slow cooker add
1) around 1 or 1.5 cup veg broth
2) 1 can of diced tomato
3) 1 can of white beans
4) 1 grated potato

5) 2 tea spoon garlic powder.
6) 3 tea spoon italian hurb mix
7) 4 tea spoon oregano
8) salt to taste
9) 4 tea spoon olive oil
10) pasta what ever you like. I used 2 kinds of pasta to get a variety. Don't put pasta in the begining. Drop then 2 hours before you serve.

Mix it well and leave it to cook for around 8 hours in low setting.

Not sure how it will be in the evening but 1 thing is sure that herbs smell is good and making me think positive about the taste.

I am also going to add a pesto into this soup 1/2 hour before serving to get some basil taste into it.

Have Fun!!!

Gatte ke sabzi

Someone was coming home and I wanted to make something Rajasthani.... Richa was already making sabzi and daal but my taste buds needed something sour and spicy.... I decided to cook gatte ke sabzi....

Looked at couple of recipes on the net and here is what i did...

take besan + chili powder + haldi + salt + little bit oil + curd and make tight dough. make sure you put oil in hands otherwise besan will stick to your hands...

make rolls of this dough and boil them in water for around 7-10 minutes until they start floting..put some oil in the water so these rolls dont stick to each other...

after they are boiled then cut them in pieces around 1 cm width.

in a bowl put curd/besan/haldi/dhania powder/saunf powder and mix it well.

in a pan put oil and when it is heated then put zeera + musturd seeds + 2-3 whole red chili and let the musturd seeds crack.

put the curd mixture into the pan.... keep stirring so curd dont get split....
At this time add the water which was used to boil the gattee...

once this comes to boil add gatte into it and stir for few more minutes..

in some recipe people fry gatte to make it more rich but i dont like that part.

Have fun!!!

Moroccan Soup

Today after having a heavy breakfast of gobhi paratha I wanted to eat a healthy hot soup in the lunch. I was searching stuff on the net and somehow came across moroccan food blog. At that time I decided that I am going to make something in moroccon style today. After doing some search I came to below link where I started my todays lunch preperation

http://moroccanfood.about.com/od/soupsandappetizers/r/Dchicha-Soup-With-Cracked-Wheat.htm

I added brown rice to this recipe and replaced crack wheat with Idly rava (some kind of cracked rice). I also replaced peprika with oregano, somehow I get better smell from italian herbs so I tend to use them more often in my experiments.

I boiled it almost the same time as written in the recipe except that I covered it instead of keeping it open.

Next time I will also add cracked wheat into this soup.

Have Fun !!!
